Pair of Cougars Added to Sharks 2017 Roster

Wilmington, NC

Riley Knudsen and Danny Wondrack are sticking together this summer for the Wilmington Sharks. Already teammates at the College of Charleston, the experienced duo are heading to North Carolina. Knudsen has started 15 times this season at first base, while Wondrack has accumulated 28 starts behind the plate for the Cougars.  The two additions bring the Sharks roster to 24 members across 13 different colleges and universities.

Looking ahead to the summer Knudsen said, “I am looking to play with great players and I am really focused on getting better defensively.”  The first basemen believes the Sharks will be the best team in the league this summer.  Knudsen is currently hitting .241 with two homeruns for the College of Charleston.

Meanwhile, Danny Wondrack is batting .221 and has driven in 21 runs for the Cougars. However, the College of Charleston sophomore wants to use this summer to keep getting better.  “I am looking to improve everything about my game as there is no time to stop working hard,” said Wondrack.  When asked about what he expects from the Sharks this season, the sophomore catcher said, “I believe this team can win the whole league this summer.”

Knudsen is the second first baseman to be added to the team joining Brian Parreira from USC-Aiken.  Additionally, Wondrack will combine with Thatcher Coleman out of Presbyterian College behind the plate for the Sharks.

Knudsen, Wondrack and the rest of the Sharks are just 18 days away from Opening Day.  Wilmington begins its quest for a third straight playoff appearance Florence Red Wolves on May 30th at Buck Hardee Field.
