Veteran Minor League Owners Acquire Sharks

Wilmington, NC

Bill Davidson and Matt Perry have worked in the baseball business for over 30 years.  The duo has experience at all levels of Minor League Baseball, independent professional baseball and professional hockey.  Davidson and Perry are now jumping into the waters of summer collegiate baseball as well.

Under new ownership, the Sharks are hoping to expand its already jam-packed promotional schedule.  “We’re expanding promotional offerings to include more fireworks shows, giveaway nights and involvement with community organizations,” said Owner Matt Perry.  This season, Wilmington has fireworks shows on June 2nd and 16th along with July 2nd and 14th and the new ownership team expects those numbers to increase in the coming years.

“We want to enhance the experience of a Sharks event and heighten the team’s presence,” said Perry.  One long-term goal for the new owners is to develop a new stadium in the Wilmington area.  For now though, Davidson and Perry are focused on this year’s team and working with the surrounding community.  “Our efforts will include expanded involvement with schools, non-profit organizations and youth groups,” said Perry.

In baseball, Matt Perry has been a top level executive for the Midland Angles, the LA Dodgers Double A affiliate, as well as the Columbia Mets and Fayetteville Generals, both Single A affiliates of the Mets and Tigers respectively.  Bill Davidson has previously held ownership interests with three hockey teams, the Midland Angles and the Chattanooga Lookouts, Double A affiliate of the Reds.

Don't miss any of the action this season as the Sharks celebrate their 20th anniversary.  Tickets can be purchased online at or by calling (910) 343-5621.
