The Wilmington Sharks are pleased to announce that Robert Ambrose will be the voice of the Sharks this summer, serving as the teams' broadcaster for the upcoming 2019 season. A graduate of California Lutheran University, Ambrose currently serves as the play-by-play announcer for the Augusta University Baseball, Volleyball and Basketball teams.

Originally from Eugene, Oregon, Ambrose got his start broadcasting while attending California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California. There he served as the Broadcaster for the Baseball, Softball, Men's and Women's Basketball teams. After college, Ambrose became the Game Entertainment Intern with the Birmingham Barons for the 2014 season. Following that, Ambrose headed back west to become the Production Intern for the Reno Aces in 2015. Ambrose also has expirence in broadcasting Summer Collegiate baseball, having served as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the North Adams SteepleCats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League in 2016. In 2017 Ambrose relocated to Augusta, Georgia to become the Media Relations intern for the Augusta GreenJackets (Giants A).  

"I like that the Sharks are one of the few original Coastal Plain League teams that are still remaining. That is a testament to hard work and dedication by the staff and I am very excited to be a part of it this summer", says Ambrose. "The Sharks have a staff that works very well as a team which is the kind of environment that I enjoy working in."

Ambrose steps in as the Sharks broadcaster, a role Sharks General Manager Carson Bowen has held before him. "We're thrilled to have Robert join our team this summer", says Bowen. Through our conversations, it's clear that he has a passion for the game of baseball and a certain pride in his work. We know that Sharks fans will enjoy Robert's well rounded coverage of our boys this summer".

Set in the picturesque Cape Fear region of North Carolina, the Wilmington Sharks are one of the charter members of the Coastal Plain League. The Coastal Plain League is the nation's premier summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 23nd season in 2019, the CPL features 16 teams playing in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL has had over 1,450 alumni drafted and 109 of those - including 2017 ALCS MVP, 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander as well as 2017 NLCS MVP Chris Taylor – make their Major League debut.
