Wilmington, North Carolina-The Wilmington Sharks drew fourteen walks as a team, including six that resulted in runs, in an 8-7 victory over the Fayetteville SwampDogs.  The victory improved the Sharks to 1-0 on the second half of the season and to 9-18 overall.

Trailing 4-0 with one out in the bottom of the fourth, Chad Fairey hit his first career home run for the Sharks to make it 4-1.  James Parker and Clemente Inclan followed with back-to-back singles.  They then completed a double steal with Parker stealing third and Inclan stealing second.  CJ Conrad then hit an RBI ground out to score Parker and make it 4-2.

Tucker Greer led off the fifth with a double ending the night for Fayetteville starter Joe Graziano.  Steven Curry was then hit by the pitch.  With one out, Cory Everett drew a walk to load the bases.  With two outs, the Sharks hitters drew five consecutive bases loaded walks to take a commanding 7-4 lead.

The Sharks added another run in the sixth after the SwampDogs bullpen walked the bases loaded.  Conrad then drew another bases loaded walk to extend the Sharks lead to 8-4.

The SwampDogs inched closer in the eighth when Carson Bartels hit a two-out two-run double to cut the Sharks lead to 8-6.  Austin Bost led off the ninth inning with a solo home run to greet Sharks closer Alex Havlicek, cutting it to 8-7.  Havlicek then settled in and retired three in a row to complete his second save in as many games.

The Sharks will be back in action Wednesday night against the Edenton Steamers at Buck Hardee Field.  It is Jaw N Paws Night where fans can bring their dog/dogs into the park.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM with the gates opening at 6:00PM.
