Sharks Break Battle of Beaches Curse

Morehead City, North Carolina-With pinch runner Tucker Greer on first, two outs, and the game tied at six in the top of the ninth inning, James Parker hit a go ahead triple to give the Sharks a 7-6 lead over the Morehead City Marlins.  Alex Havlicek recorded his fourth save of the season in the bottom of the inning to give the Sharks their first win in the Battle of the Beaches series this season.

The Sharks jumped on top early when Noah Bridges singled with one out in the first.  He then stole second and scored when his brother Zach Bridges singled him home.  Parker followed with a three-run home run to give the Sharks the early 3-0 lead.

The Marlins answered back in the bottom of the second when Jack Harris led off with a home run to put the Marlins on the board.  Hunter Shepherd followed with a single.  With one out, Zach Miller hit a two-run shot to tie the game at three.

Clemente Inclan hit a solo home run to put the Sharks back on top 4-3 in the top of the fourth.  In the bottom of the inning, Miller hit another two-run shot to put the Marlins up 5-4.

Trailing 6-4, Jonah Beamon drew a walk to begin the seventh.  Noah Bridges followed with a single.  Chad Fairey bunted them over to second and third.  Zach Bridges singled them both home to tie the game.

Troy Britts was the star on the mound for the Sharks.  He came on in relief to begin the sixth and pitched three shutout innings to earn his second victory of the season.  He allowed only one hit and struck out seven including the side in the sixth.

With two outs and nobody on base in the ninth, Zach Bridges drew a walk before Greer came in to pinch run, setting up Parker's game winning triple.

The Sharks will return to the Shark Tank Monday afternoon for Super Splash Day against the SwampDogs.  The gates will open at 10:00AM for a 1:05PM first pitch.
