Frustration Continues For Sharks

Frustration Continues For Sharks

Wilmington, North Carolina-The Wilmington Sharks suffered their third straight home shutout loss and their fifth straight loss overall with an 11-0 loss too the Wilson Tobs Saturday night at Buck Hardee Field.  The loss dropped the Sharks below .500 for the first time in the second half of play at 6-7.

Sharks starter Cameron Reeves was masterful in his start on the mound.  He struck out eight in the first three innings of play including the side in the first and the third innings.  He faced the minimum again in the fourth and retired the first two hitters he faced in the fifth before the Tobs figured him out.

With two outs and nobody on in the fifth, the Tobs used the bottom third of their lineup to load the bases.  De'Andre Pitts singled home two to break the scoreless tie.  Jared Carr followed with an RBI single making it 3-0.  Chris Myers singled home another run to make it 4-0.

Michael Calamari led off the fifth with a double to begin the sixth.  Kevin Jordan drove him home with a triple to make it 5-0.  The Tobs added four more in the seventh capped by a three-run home run by Hunter Gore to go up 9-0.  Chase Wullenweber hit a two-run single in the ninth to put the Tobs on top 11-0.

The Tobs pitching staff held the Sharks to just five hits on the night.  The one bright spot for the Sharks offensively was Jonah Beamon who recorded two hits including a double.  It was Beamon's second consecutive multi-hit game.  Clemente Inclan, Tilo Skole, and Cam Jenson each posted a base hit as well for the Sharks.

The Sharks will be back in action Monday night against the Morehead City Marlins at Big Rock Stadium.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM.

Come and join us for Christmas in July at the Shark Tank Wednesday night as the Sharks take on the Holly Springs Salamanders.  Gates will open at 6:00PM for a 7:05PM first pitch.
