Sharks Earn Split with Tobs

Wilmington, NC-The Wilmington Sharks earned their second doubleheader split in as many days by defeating the Wilson Tobs 5-2 in game one and falling 7-4 in game two in eight innings Friday night at Buck Hardee Field.

After giving up two runs in the top of the third inning of game one, the Sharks answered back in the bottom half with a two-run home run by Noah Bridges to tie the game at two.  With the game still tied in the sixth, Noah's brother Zach Bridges hit a three-run home run to give the Sharks a 5-2 lead.

Colin Kennedy was sensational on the mound for the Sharks in game one.  Kennedy gave up just the two runs off six hits in his six innings of work and struck out five.  His performance earned him his first win of the season.  After the Sharks took the lead on Bridges' homer, Erik Janss came on in the seventh to record his second save of the season.

The Sharks took the early lead in game two when Cam Jenson came to bat with the bases loaded in the second inning.  He drove home all three runs with his second triple in as many days making it 3-0 Sharks.

The Tobs answered back by scoring three runs in the third to tie the game.  They added another run in the fifth to go up 4-3.  Noah Bridges reached on an infield single to lead off the bottom half.  He then stole second.  With one out, he advanced to third on a single by Chad Fairey.  Fairey was then thrown out trying to steal second for the second out.  On the throwdown, Bridges took off from third and scored to tie the game at four.

Due to extra-inning rules, the Tobs began the eighth with runners on first and second.  With one out, De'Andre Pitts cleared the bases with a three-run home run to put the Tobs up 7-4.  The Sharks failed to score in the bottom half.

The Sharks will be back in action Saturday night against the Morehead City Marlins at Big Rock Stadium.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM.

The Sharks will return to the Shark Tank Wednesday night against the Florence RedWolves for Hurricane Night presented by Copycat Print Shop.  Gates will open at 6:00PM for a 7:05PM first pitch.
